Veteran local bluesman, Lil' Dave Thompson, was killed in an auto accident on Interstate 20 near Aiken, SC. His talents and friendship will be greatly missed. Dave played 9 of the last 10 Highway 61 Blues Festivals and was just a great boon to the Delta music scene.

A benefit for The Highway 61 Blues Museum will be held at The Walnut Street Blues Bar on Walnut Street in Greenville, MS starting at 7:00 PM. Pat Thomas, Eddie Cusic, T-Model Ford, Brenda and the Go-Cats, Mickey Rogers and the Soulmasters, The Walnut Street Allstars and several others will be performing at the event. Thanks to Danny and Sharon Peeples for putting on what has become an annual event.

The Leland Crawfish Festival takes place May 8 in downtown Leland, MS. The Lillo's Jazz Band, The Mayhem String Band and The Tangents featuring Duff Dorrough will be performing. Crawfish plates and BBQ plates will be served by Ryan Moore's Team from Cicero's.
June 3-6, 2010
Thursday, June 3 a Block Party on Walnut Street will be held featuring local talent.
Friday June 4, will feature Blues in the Clubs where all the local clubs in Greenville, Indianola and Clarksdale will feature local blues acts.
Saturday, June 5 the 11th Annual Highway 61 Blues Festival will occur featuring headliner Johnny Winter.
Sunday, June 6, the Holly Ridge Jam takes place at the old Holly Ridge Store in Holly Ridge, MS between Leland and Indianola.

A benefit for The Highway 61 Blues Museum was organized by Dutch friends of the museum and the event took place in a small town in the Netherlands called Mill. Click here for more information...
